Curtain Up For Total Glass

Total Glass Commercial has recently completed a major curtain walling contract to supply and fit PVC-U screens as part of refurbishment works at a sheltered housing scheme in the Gedling district of Nottingham.

Working with a main contractor on behalf of Gedling Borough Council, the company supplied 24 stairwell entrance screens to replace rotten and ageing timber windows and infill panels in the six two-storey blocks of flats.

Measuring up to 4.5 m by 4m, the new screens were manufactured using the high performance Profile 22 curtain walling system which is fully compliant with current thermal efficiency and building regulations. Accommodating the full range of 60mm and 70mm window and door systems for a wider choice of product, the system offers long term maintenance and cost benefits. In the unlikely event a glazed unit needs to be replaced, the dedicated system accepts individual glazed frames. The durable mill finish system is PVC-U clad, both internally and externally for an attractive end result.

Completed over three phases in March, the project also included a total of 570 casement and 109 fully reversible windows for ease of cleaning. Tenant liaison throughout the installation phases ensured minimum disruption for residents.

In addition, 26 automatic, intercom-operated composite entrance doors were installed, offering low maintenance combined with greater security to give significantly improved weather performance, peace of mind and comfort for residents.

"This project was completed to the client's satisfaction, and as a result we are currently involved in a number of similar contracts, confirming our technical expertise and ability to deliver to the high standards demanded by this sector," comments TGC's Sales Manager Stuart Waring.
